2023 Small Business Leadership Conference: Day Three Recap
The final morning of the 2023 Small Business Leadership Conference began with an opening breakfast by Todd Sinelli, ‘inspirational illusionist’ and owner of Infinitely In. Todd uses his love of magic and business to create an interactive session with audience members and inspire them in their careers.
Following the opening breakfast session was the Pitch Competition Final Round where three finalists each competed in the startup category and scaleup category. Tracy Eckles, owner of Sleep Tight Tallahassee, LLC, won the startup division and Eurydice Stanley, owner of Lamp Press won the scaleup division. Each winner will receive funding from the Jim Moran Institute to help develop their businesses.
Today’s two workshop sessions each featured four speakers with topics such as social capital, legal infrastructure, financial preparation, social media, and positive work cultures.
To end the conference, Lisa Price, founder of hair and skincare line Carol’s Daughter, spoke at the closing keynote luncheon. Lisa discussed her journey of entrepreneurship in her session, 30 Years of Carol's Daughter: Growth, Prosperity and Lessons Learned Along the Way.
During her keynote, Lisa spoke about growing her business and the work it took to get there. “It's important to recognize that it takes a village when you’re an entrepreneur and building a brand. A lot of it falls on you, but no one does anything great in this world without other people.”, said Lisa.
Lisa also spoke about her excitement for Carol’s Daughter’s newest collaboration with Disney’s The Little Mermaid, “I know that consumers are going to be really excited to see Ariel on the packaging of Carol’s Daughter…..to see an image like that means so much because it doesn't seem so far away, it becomes a goal you can see for yourself.”
