Applications Open For Tampa Bay Small Business and Nonprofit Executive Programs

Tampa, Fla. — The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, part of the Florida State University College of Business, is accepting applications for its Small Business Executive Program (SBEP) Class VI and Nonprofit Executive Program (NPEP) Class V in Tampa Bay. Offered at no cost to participants, the programs are funded by Jan Moran and The Jim Moran Foundation. The deadline to apply for each program is Aug. 9, 2021.

The SBEP helps for-profit business leaders work on their business while accommodating their busy schedules. Taught by industry experts, participants learn the Business Model Canvas and are given other tools to emerge as stronger leaders ready to capitalize on business opportunities. The NPEP program consists of four sessions, each focusing on how to navigate a nonprofit organization through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Both programs help identify clear and focused strategies in marketing, exit strategies, financial analysis and more.

“The small business and nonprofit executive programs are an incredible opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to improve their business or nonprofit organization,” said Dr. Shane Smith, director of Central Florida Operations at the Jim Moran Institute. “Leaders are often so focused on completing day-to-day operational tasks that they don’t take time to focus on the big picture. Our programs help them concentrate on long-term strategies that will help them grow their organizations.”

The SBEP program consists of eight sessions, each focusing on a particular aspect of growing a small business. Beginning Aug. 31 and running through Dec. 7, the sessions will be held every other week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Applicants must be actively involved in running a business, be a key decision-maker and their company must have been established for at least three years and have five or more employees to be eligible for the program.

The NPEP program consists of four sessions, each focusing on how to navigate a nonprofit organization through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Beginning Sep. 2 and running through Oct. 14, the sessions will be held every other week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Applicants must be actively involved in running a nonprofit and their organization must have been established for at least three years and have five or more employees to be eligible for the program.

The upcoming SBEP and NPEP programs will be held in-person in St. Pete. The Jim Moran Institute began implementing an in-person reopening plan on August 1, 2020. The organization is following the guidance of college, university, local, state, and federal officials in each of their satellite locations to maintain the health and safety of clients, staff, volunteers and guests. The fluidity of the situation is likely to require continuing flexibility. All program schedules and formats are subject to change and will be revised as needed.

Program graduates receive a certificate and the opportunity to join an ongoing peer roundtable. They are also encouraged to participate in workshops, conferences and other Jim Moran Institute events.
